Excel Tip - Using the Format Painter multiple times

The Excel Format Painter is a wonderful tool. To be able to copy all the formatting from one cell and apply it over other cells is a real time-saver. If you need to apply the copied format more than once though, then a simple double-click on the Format Painter command will enable you to paint till your heart’s content! Once done, click on the escape (esc) key. So much easier than having to keep on reselecting the Format Painter command on the Home Ribbon. Just goes to show that it pays to read the screen tips from time to time. They actually have some very useful info! You will find the spreadsheet for download below.

Excel Tip - No. of Days between 2 Dates

In Excel, subtracting an Earlier Date from a Later Date will calculate the number of Days in between - which can be very useful. However, we may need to calculate the number of Working Days between two Dates. If that is the case then NETWORKDAYS() is your goto function. (Makes more sense if you read this as NET WORKDAYS as opposed to NETWORK DAYS) It excludes weekends plus has an optional argument that will exclude Holidays and other Non-working Days that you list in a Data Range. NB! Just like any other Date calculations though, you need to work with genuine dates (auto-aligned to the right), otherwise this will simply error. The default weekend for the NETWORKDAYS() Function is Saturday
